ESR Workshop & Networking Event, 3-5 February 2014, EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland

The COST Action TU0905 organises an Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Workshop & Networking Event from 3 to 5 February 2014 at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.

The event aims to enhance the knowledge of Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) on the numerical modelling of glass components and to create a strong ESR network. The event includes a workshop on numerical modelling with hands-on exercises, a scientific visit to CERN in Geneva, technical visits and company visits.

The concept program is as follows:

Monday 3rd of February 2014
Morning: Lectures
- Computational Fracture Mechanics – Prof Jean-Francois Molinari (EPFL, Lausanne)
- Numerical modeling in engineering practice – Prof Geralt Siebert (UniBw, Munich)
- Identification of parameters for the numerical simulation of adhesives with non-linear elasticity – Prof Paul L Geiß (AWOK- University of Kaiserslautern)
- Pitfalls in numerical modelling – Dr Jens Henrik Nielsen (DTU, Lyngby)
Afternoon: Exercises
Numerical modeling of structural glass components.

Tuesday 4th of February 2014
Morning: Scientific Visit to CERN in Geneva
Afternoon: Technical visits to WTO building and BioTech Campus building in Geneva

Wednesday 5th of February 2014
Morning: Company visit to glass facade engineering and production company
Afternoon: Company visit to glass processing company

The ESR event is fully booked and registration is not possible anymore.
