General
The European COST Action TU0905 ‘Structural glass – Novel design methods and next generation products’ organizes the 2nd COST Training School on "Structural Glass". Following the great success of the first training school in spring 2012 at Ghent University in Belgium,  this year the training school will take place at TU Darmstadt in Germany. 

Program
Unique training for PhD and Master students by lectures from leading international experts in the field. Topics include glass products and strength, structural design of components and connections, numerical modelling, structural glass systems and architectural geometries. Moreover, the visit of  a civil engineering conference at TU Darmstadt including a special session on glass and polymers, a student colloquium and a technical visit are included. Selection and Grants
An international scientific committee will select 40 successful candidates, 20 of whom will be rewarded with a COST grant (value: € 500). Grants include a reimburse- ment of the registration fee, plus € 300 to reduce travel expenses.

Application deadline: February 4th, 2013
Notification of acceptance: February 11th, 2013

Who should attend?
PhD and Master-students with a background in civil, structural or architectural engineering.

Registration
Registration fee for this 5-day event is € 200 (40 succesful applicants only). Registration fee includes entrance to Training School lectures, civil engineering conference, student colloquium, technical visit, handouts and proceedings, (sandwich) lunches and coffee breaks.

Travel and accommodation
Successful candidates are expected to arrange their own travel and accommodation.

How to apply
Applicants should send a four page abstract about their research (or research intentions) together with their detailed CV no later than February 4th, 2013 to training-school@iwmb.tu-darmstadt.de. Abstracts will be published in the proceedings.
